Why Fabric Protection Matters
Stains Wipe Off Faster
Spills bead up on the surface instead of soaking into fibres, giving you time to blot and clean before a permanent stain forms.
Furniture Lasts Longer
A protective barrier reduces the daily wear that breaks down fabric over time, extending the life of your furniture investment.
Cleaner Between Cleans
Dirt and oils don't bond to protected fibres, so your furniture stays visibly cleaner between professional cleanings.
When we apply: Fabric protection is applied directly after a professional Fabrifresh cleaning, or on brand new furniture before it gets used. Protection cannot be applied to dirty or already-soiled furniture — the surface must be cleaned first to ensure proper bonding to the fabric fibres.
Choose the Right Protection for Your Home
We offer two professional-grade fabric protection options. Both defend against stains and dirt — the difference is in their composition and how they perform against liquids.
Eco-Friendly Fabric Protection
Water-based, completely non-toxic protection that defends against dirt and stains.
Key Features
- Water-based and completely non-toxic
- Safe to apply with kids and pets in the home
- Can be applied to slightly damp fabric
- No ventilation required during application
- Defends against everyday dirt and stains
- Lasts 1 to 2 years depending on use
Best For
- Homes with young children or pets
- Customers who prefer eco-friendly products
- Everyday dirt and dry stain defense
- Budget-conscious furniture protection
Note: This protection is not water-repellent. Liquid spills will still soak into the fabric over time, but stains and dirt clean up more easily.
Premium Water-Repellent Protection
Solvent-based protection that creates a physical barrier, repelling both liquids and stains.
Key Features
- Solvent-based for maximum protection
- Creates a physical barrier on the fabric
- Repels both water and oil-based liquids
- Spills bead up and can be wiped off
- Defends against dirt, stains, and liquids
- Lasts 1 to 2 years depending on use
Best For
- High-traffic furniture (family sofas, dining chairs)
- Homes prone to spills (red wine, juice, coffee)
- White or light-coloured upholstery
- Customers who want maximum defense
Application Requirements: Furniture must be completely dry before application. The room requires good ventilation during application. We recommend keeping children, pets, and adults out of the area during application and for 1 to 2 hours afterward. Once dry, the protection is fully safe.

How Fabric Protection Is Applied
A simple three-step process applied right after your professional clean.
Clean Surface First
Protection is applied directly after a professional Fabrifresh cleaning, ensuring the fabric is free of dirt and oils that would prevent proper bonding.
Even, Professional Application
We apply the protection in even, controlled passes across every surface of your furniture, ensuring full coverage without over-saturation.
Drying & Curing
The fabric is left to dry and cure fully — this typically takes 1 to 2 hours depending on the protection type and fabric. Once cured, the protection is fully active.
Important Things to Know
Reapplication After Every Clean
Fabric protection is removed during professional cleaning. To maintain protection, it should be reapplied after every Fabrifresh clean.
Lasts 1 to 2 Years
Both protection options last 1 to 2 years depending on use, traffic, and how often the furniture is cleaned.
Only Applied on Clean Furniture
We only apply protection after a professional clean, or on brand new furniture. Protection cannot bond to dirty or soiled fabric.
Add-On Service
Fabric protection is offered as an add-on to any cleaning booking. Just let us know when booking your appointment.
What to Do When You Get a Stain
Even with fabric protection, prompt action matters. Follow these steps to give your furniture the best chance of staying spotless.
Blot, Don't Rub
Use a dry paper towel or clean cloth to blot the stain and absorb as much moisture as possible. Never rub — rubbing pushes the spill deeper into the fabric and spreads the stain.
Cold Water, Not Hot
Dampen a clean paper towel with cold water and gently blot the stain. Never use hot water — heat can set the stain permanently into the fibres.
Repeat Until Gone
Continue blotting with dry paper towels and cold water alternately until the stain lifts. Be patient — multiple gentle passes work better than aggressive scrubbing.
Call Us Within One Week
If the stain doesn't fully come out, call Fabrifresh within one week for professional treatment. After a week, stains can become permanently set into the fabric and become significantly harder to remove.
Critical Reminder: Never rub the stain, never use hot water, and never wait longer than a week before calling for professional treatment. These three rules give your furniture the best chance at full recovery.
